Below are the general admission requirements for UTME candidates:
  • You must possess at least, five (5) Credit grades in five subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) in your O’level result(s). This could be WAEC/NECO/GEC or any equivalent result.
  • You must make UI your first choice of institution during JAMB registration. UI does not consider second-choice candidates when offering admission.
  • You must choose the recommended subject combination by the University of Ibadan for your courses in both JAMB UTME and post UTME examinations of the university.
  • You are expected to have a UTME examination score of 200 and above to be eligible for the University of Ibadan post UTME examination.
  • You are required to purchase the university’s post UTME form, participate in the examination and gain a high score according to your department’s cut-off mark in order to gain admission.
Below are the requirements for direct entry candidates:
  1. Direct entry candidates must possess at least, five (5) Credit grades in five subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) in their O’level result(s). This could be WAEC/NECO/GEC or any equivalent result.

2. University of Nigeria (Nsukka, Enugu State)

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (commonly known as UNN) was established by Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and formally opened on 7 October 1960. The University of Nigeria Nsukka is the first indigenous university in Nigeria. It is located in Nsukka, Enugu State, in the Eastern region of Nigeria.

Modeled upon the American educational system, UNN is the first self–governing university in Nigeria.

It is the first land-grant university in Africa and one of the five most reputed universities in Nigeria. With over 20,000 students, the University remains one of the few institutions in Africa that offers research and courses in Astronomy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The university has 15 Faculties and 102 academic departments. The university offers 108 undergraduate programs and 211 postgraduate programs

Here are the requirements to gain admission to the University of Nigeria (Nsukka)

Below are the general admission requirements for UTME candidates:
  • Candidates must have at least, 5 (five) Credit grades in five subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) in their O’level result(s). In this case, the O’level result could be WAEC/NECO/GCE or any other equivalent result.
  • Candidates must make the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) their first choice of institution during JAMB registration. UNN does not accept second-choice candidates for admission.
  • Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time admission is offered.
  • Candidates are required to score at least, 160 in JAMB UTME examination as that will make them eligible to take the UNN post UTME examination.

3. University of Lagos (Yaba, Lagos State)

The University of Lagos popularly known as UNILAG was founded in 1962. It is one of the first-generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in Nigeria and the world at large. 

The University of Lagos has, for over five decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. It presently has three Campuses in Yaba and Surulere.

Below are the general admission requirements for UTME candidates:
  • You must have reached the age of 16
  • You must possess at least, 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in your O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics, and four other subjects related to your course of study.
  • You are required to have a UTME examination score of 200 or higher
  • You must take the UNILAG Post UTME screening examination and must meet the stipulated cutoff marks for your course to gain admission into the university.
  • Not more than ONE sitting result is accepted for admission into the University of Lagos (UNILAG)
  • Also, you must choose the correct subject combination for their courses.
Below are the requirements for Direct Entry candidates:
  • Applicants must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
  • Applicants must have also reached the age of 16.
  • Applicants are expected to get JAMB Direct Entry form from JAMB to apply.

4. Ahmadu Bello University (Zaria, Kaduna State)

Founded on October 4th, 1962, as the University of Northern Nigeria.  Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is West Africa’s largest university with 82 academic departments, 49,954 students, and 500,000 alumni. It is named after the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria. Obafemi Awolowo University is a federal government-owned and operated Nigerian university. It was established in 1962 in the ancient city of Ile-Ife as the University of Ife. The University of Benin is a public research university located in Benin City, Edo State. It was founded in 1970. It was first an Institute of Technology and was accorded the status of a University by National Universities Commission (NUC) on 1st July 1971.

In his Budget Speech in April 1972, the then Military Governor of Mid-Western State, Col. S. O. Ogbemudia formally announced the change of the name of the Institute of Technology to the University of Benin.

On 1st April 1975, the University at the request of the State Government was taken over by the Federal Government and became a Federal University. Today, the University has continued to grow with a number of Faculties, Departments, Institutes, and Units. Following NUC’s directives, the University experimented with the Collegiate System in 1991/92 and 1992/93.

The University of Abuja is located in Gwagwalada Local Government Area of Abuja and was established in January 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended). The University took off from a temporary site, made up of three blocks of building meant for a primary school in Gwagwalada, tagged the “mini-campus”.
